How many times have you heard the saying, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”? It’s a popular quote attributed to John Lennon, and it’s something that I’ve always found to be true.
Long Story Short
In the previous blog post, I mentioned we would be on the road by now, but unfortunately, because of medical issues, we’re still at home. Our future plans are to head out on our next road trip adventure in August. Fingers crossed anyway.
When you think about it, RV travel is a constant change of scenery. After all, you never know what’s around the next bend in the road. Fortunately, both Mike and I have an optimistic outlook about life. We’ll be traveling to new destinations, meeting new people and looking out for the next stop to explore. When we’re on the road, we’re ready for new adventures-both good and bad.
We have occasionally experienced a trip gone wrong. Whether it’s an emergency, such as when one of our trailer tires sheared off the axle while traveling a busy highway, or something more trivial, such as the campground being full, or the water pump stops working—it’s frustrating to have a road trip disrupted.
Yes, life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it. Just when you think you have everything figured out, something comes along and changes everything. That’s why it’s so important to live in the present moment and enjoy the journey, rather than always being focused on the destination.
Of course, that’s easier said than done. It seems like we’re always being pulled in a million different directions and it’s hard to slow down long enough to just smell the roses. But if we can take a step back and appreciate the little things in life, that’s when we truly start living.
So next time you find yourself getting caught up in the rat race, remember John Lennon’s words and just enjoy the journey. When you think about it, in the end it’s the only choice we have.
